Lost in translation (2003)
Wednesday, March 30, 2005 @ 3/30/2005 10:27:00 PM

This movie has been on my 'Want to see very bad list' for a long long time. So tonight I finally got the chance to watch Lost in translation.

Plot: The movie is basically about two persons trapped in Tokyo. One is Bob Harris (Bill Murray) a old washed-out movie-star who's on a business trip for a whisky commercial. Bob doesn't speak a word Japanese nor has someone to talk to, besides that he also has a massive jetlag problem. The other person is the young and beautifull Charlotte (Scarlett Johansson). She accompanies her husband (Giovanni Ribisi) who has come to Tokyo for business reasons. As he is away most of the time, she feels very isolated. Her sleeping problems don't help a bit and you can say she feels the same as Bob. But off course they meet each other and spend their time together, which creates a strong friendship. The more they hang out the stronger their friendship gets, even tho they know their time in Tokyo is running out.

As usual Bill Murray knows how to make ya laugh. The fact that this is a great movie is not only because of the acting and the story, but the setting in Tokyo really gives it a great atmosphere of lonelyness in a unknown and busy society around the characters. I love the Japanese culture so it was very nice to see a bit of the modern (e.g. Neon billboards, Technology, computerhalls, nightlife) and historical side of Japan, the cityscapes, the temples....damn it makes me wanna go there even more.

Helping hand
@ 3/30/2005 07:02:00 PM

Helping people out is one of the things in life, that makes ya feel goddamn good. Never had that before when I was younger. In fact I didn't care about that at all. There's a certain day in my life I remember, when I was 9 or 10 years old, I was rushing off to school, cus I was late. When I noticed a girl lying on the pavement crying. Obviously she had fallen from her bike. As I was already running late for my school and didn't want to get in any problems with the teachers and shit. So as I passed by on my bike I asked if she was alright, and didn't even wait for a reply. Damn I was such a sob and felt guilty afterwards. When I looked back I noticed a old man stopped and helped her up..thank god. Nowadays I really like to help people, and I was thinking about taking a first aid class, just in case.

Today was quite funny tho. I was riding to work, the usual way, enjoying the sun, and sticking up my finger to arrogant car-drivers. When along the way, I saw a old lady sitting on the curb and her bike sideways across the bicyclelane. Seemed like she had fallen from her bike. And yup I was right, she had a few cuts and some blood on her face. I stopped, and was like...."Hmmmz she looks awfully familiar" when I suddenly realised, she was the same old lady I had seen falling of her bike a few weeks ago. So this apparently (maybe she does it every week) was the second time and I was like..Shiat, either you need to take the bus next time or you should be taken to a nursing home.

Poolhall Junkies (2002)
Tuesday, March 29, 2005 @ 3/29/2005 01:18:00 PM

After a day of hard work and lots of food I decided to take it easy today and watch a few movies. Started of with Poolhall Junkies. I know its already one of the older movies, but I haden't seen it yet. And after watching the trailer I was really curious about what this movie would be. Especially with Chaz Palminteri and Christopher Walken in the cast.

Plot: When Johnny, a poolhall hustler, tries to quit the game, it's not as easy as he thinks. And when his younger brother gets hooked into a con that could cost his brother's life, Johnny is forced to play for the biggest stake of his career. It's bigger than money, bigger than life, and bigger than either player can imagine.

The movie turned out to be quite good, with a splendid performance from Christopher Walken. And as you might know I love to play some pool, but with some of the shots made in this movie, I get anxious to play even more and try that shit out.

Happy bday Kim
Sunday, March 27, 2005 @ 3/27/2005 11:25:00 AM

Well, Faisal is partying his fat ass of in Miami this week(end). Yes I am very jealous, but as usual it's the 'have no money' issue that gets in the way of the fun stuff. Still, I think I should've sold my furniture or something. Needless to say, I still had a good weekend. After the first two days of sun this week, the usual weather set in, with lots of coldness and rain and fog. But thanks to a few blogreaders, I think they've managed to actually send us some sun today again, cus it's HOT here daaayamn.

Had a birthday of my close friend Kim (she's the gurl on the right) yesterday. We (my friends who got invited along with me) decided to buy her some funny, cute and alot of small gifts. We came up with a few very very soft pillows, a pair of pluche finding nemo slippers, which unfortunately I didn't take a pic of. I also gave her a painted cup with her artist name 'Mais' on the front and with the Chinese sign for 'Friend' on the other side. That alone would be boring so I made some small drawings around it. Which turned out very nice. Buuuuut noooow, im off to work VERY VERY hard on my internship assignment and enjoying the sun!

Aaargh my eyes
Tuesday, March 22, 2005 @ 3/22/2005 12:48:00 PM

What is that bright shiney thing in the sky?? Haven't seen that in a very very very loooooong time. It's actualy soo pretty it kept me staring at it for like 10 minutes. So if there are any spelling mistakes in this item, it's because I can't see shit atm.

My internship is on a roll btw. Got a visit from my internship-supervisor yesterday, and I was freakin nervous. The fact is, if anything goes wrong this year, I won't make it. But everything went fine, have to finish a global report in 1 month and finalize it for august, so eventually everything is based on that report, oh and my boss's judgement on me. OMG time to treat him good then......NAHHHH

Taegukgi (2005)
Monday, March 21, 2005 @ 3/21/2005 09:26:00 PM

Taegukgi

It's bee na while since my last review, but I thought I'd a lil somethin somethin to readers content. From now on with every upcomming review of a movie, I will psot a link to the bitorrent link. Use it wisely *wink*

I honestly don't know where to start. This movie is good superb. In fact it's gotta be one of the best war movies ever. And don't think for one second it's anything like Saving Private Ryan. Tae Guk Gi: (The Brotherhood of War) is about a bond between two brothers who are forced to fight in the Korean war between north and south during the fiftees. I quote "while Tae Guk Gi’s horrific imagery is peppered throughout with moments of surreal beauty, it remains one of the most realistic depictions of battlefield chaos I can think of". Honestly some scenes are horrific, but in combination with some of the awesome action and some dramatic scenes between the two brothers Jin-Tae and Jin-Seok it makes this movie as a perfect whole.

Weekend!
Sunday, March 20, 2005 @ 3/20/2005 05:09:00 PM

Man the past 4 weekends have been flying by like madness. Like I have no spare time at all. And that all because of that stupid course! The fact is, you have to start early on saturdays, so you can't go out fridays, cus you have to go to bed early, to be fresh and in good shape to at least learn something at the course. So you lose fridays! Then saturdays, the course finishes noon-ish, which means you will only have a half day to do something remotely usefull. And then theres sunday, so your weekend is literally cut in half! I DID do something usefull yesterday tho, bought some new shoes. My old ones where worn out, also a strange thing was, everytime it rained my toes where wet. I wonder why.

There is one good thing @ course tho. And thats tablesoccer. Gawwwd I love that game or maybe that's just cus I kick everyone's ass with it. More pictures from the course will be upped soon, as usual most of the pics I took are all blurry sigh.

ISP rant #2!
Friday, March 18, 2005 @ 3/18/2005 01:40:00 PM

Don't we all hate it. You're talking to someone on msn or you're browsing the internet for your work, or you're downloading something, when suddenly your internet goes down. There are 3 steps you can do when your internet connection goes down.

1. Get off your ass, pull the plug from your modem, wait 5 secs and then plug it back in. Most of the times it's a hickup in your modem.

2. Get of your ass, grab a beer, go sit down again, enjoy your beer and wait till you can go online again. (would only recommend it if you're not a internet addict and only when plenty beer is available)

3. Call your isp helpdesk.

Yesterday at work, we had some internet problems. We lost all connections all of a sudden, so the first thing we tried was step 1. When that didn't work and we noticed we didn't have any beer, we skipped step 2 and decided to go with step 3 and call the ISP. Just one tip, if you ever call to your ISP helpdesk, make sure you ask and write down the name of the person you are talking to. Cus you end up recalling four of five times like us yesterday, and you gotta explain your problem 4 or 5 times, plus you will get the same solutions that DONT work 4 or 5 times. All because you will never ever speak to that same person again...well unless you jotted down their name off course. But even then, it can be tricky, as some of those people give up fake names. Anyways it looked like we fried the modem, so my boss ordered a new one. And off course after that the internet was fixed again. So I think we should've bought some beer instead and go for step 2.

Mouse past away
Thursday, March 17, 2005 @ 3/17/2005 11:23:00 AM

Damn lost a mouse today. I think the lil runt was overworked, or it had something to do with me standing on it. Anyways thank god, or thank me I had a spare one. Altho the mouse doubleclicks automatically, so I still need to buy a new one sigh.

Been cleaning my appartment in my spare time, and I found a box with old letters from friends and girls I use to hang out with in the early days or met on holidays. Man some of them I don't even know anymore. Shame tho, cus some of them where really cool to hang out with. Aahhh the good ol times. Fuck I'm getting old. Also I forgot that I have like 3 crates with videotapes with movies. I've got like 125 movies on tape, and I don't even have a VCR heh. So I'm thinking of selling them, altho there are some good ones amongst em: "Full Metal Jacket, Donnie Brasco, Get Shorty, Reservoir Dogs" oh and also Wu Tang Da Mystery of Kung Fu.....What the f*&^????

*grabs gun and kills depression*

Whew that's reliefing. Had a quiet weekend this weekend. Too quiet imo. Didn't go out. Actually done jack shit at all, except working on my internship projects. Gotta build a site completely out of CSS, man thats f00kin tuff. But it pays off tho, don't know how but it does. Besides all that I've made some plans to go work out everyday, 2 hours a day, gotta get rid of that beerbelly and make some place for some muscles before the summer starts.

Unbareable
Saturday, March 12, 2005 @ 3/12/2005 06:26:00 PM

I've got a huge amount of things on my mind lately. Everything is just one depressing wave of bad luck, lots of stress, bad weather, lonelyness and god knows what. I feel like a woman having her period, but without the blood and the pain. Also alot of things have been happening in my family lately. My grandfather has been admitted to the hospital, my mothers friend has been admitted to the hospital and even my 2 months old niece was rushed to a hospital due to a infection of some sort. Fuck that shit. Including stress @ school, plus the stress of not being able to go out anymore on friday cus of this fucking cleaning course on saturday mornings, makes me more depressing. So I decided to cut down on my internet time and spend more time working out, doing a lot more work so I can earn more and trying to get this MT thing working. Oh well, enjoy your weekend!

This tv-serie is really awesome. I've heard alot of good things about this show already, but they never aired it here until last night. For those who haven't seen it yet: "The show is about of group of survivors from a plane crash that are forced to live together on a remote island. The island itself holds unique threats of its own. Within the large group of survivors theres a lot of irritation amongst each other. And then off course you have the different kind of people: though guys, good guys, bad girls, annoying girls, funny characters, ignorant people ad whining bitches. It's funny to see Dominic Monaghan from LOTR play a very different kind of character tho. Asside of that the show really kicks ass. Theres alot of weird shit happening on this island, and im really looking for ward to the upcomming chapters to find out what the hell is goin on. Make sure you don't miss out on this tv-show.

work + stress
Thursday, March 10, 2005 @ 3/10/2005 02:09:00 PM

Can't say I'm on a roll tbh. I've been very busy the last few days, plus some social issues accompanied doesn't make it easier. At least I finished a website for my crew. Plus had to finish a movie quick, from a party last summer. You can download it here. Please mind you, the movie has a bad codec compression plus all footage that was shot, was way too dark. Anyways tried to make the best of it. Enjoy!

p.s. The movie uses the latest divx codec.

Alone in the dark (2005)
Wednesday, March 09, 2005 @ 3/09/2005 12:56:00 PM

Hah!! Yes I've watched it. Is it as bad as people say?? Does it deserve the 2.0 rate on imdb?? It fucking well does!! Waste of 1,5 hour of my life....I want it back damnit. Nah seriously, this movie soo fucing sucks. The only thing I liked was some matrix fx in the movie, but hey we seen enuff of that already.

Movie starts with a pretalk just as in Resident Evil explaining the bad things and good things on this planet. That alone irritates as hell as its too long and continues for like 10 minutes. And then there's the acting.....oh my fucking god...teerrribleee. Tara Reid has only 2 pluspoints and she didn't use them enuff! The plot??? Even worse. The movie is actually a mix of 'The Relic' with 'Matrix'-like effects and a 'Ronin' style of music on the background. Don't watch it if you know what's good 4 you, and definately not when ya don't want to waste time.

Sin City
Tuesday, March 08, 2005 @ 3/08/2005 12:02:00 PM

new trailer is 00t The trailer looks fucking ace. It kinda gives me the max payne feeling. I loved both the payne games, the storyline, concept and atmosphere where great. Hope it does the same for Sin City. Altho I'm not to keen with all the actors in the movie. Except Jessica Alba off course....hubba hubba.

Slippery when..
Saturday, March 05, 2005 @ 3/05/2005 09:43:00 PM

I reeeheeheeeeally don't like this cold. It's -6 out there now and I already think +15 is cold. Thank god the snowing has finally stopped tho, time to let nature do its job and first melt the snow a bit and then set in a freeze of -15. I was trying ride my bicycle, but the roads are like mirrors. One mistake and you end up sliding your way trough the city. But it's fun tho. There's always some jackass trying to prove you're wrong. And no this time it wasn't me.

MT
Thursday, March 03, 2005 @ 3/03/2005 12:09:00 PM

Sowwww MT is finally installed, thnx to mr frisky. Still have to figure out how it works tho, till then I'm stuck with blogger. And since I'm a lazy sob, it will be for quite some time. I've had some DNS problems aswell, got redirected to my old host, so everything I uploaded didn't arrive at the right place, so it was stress-mania the last 2 days.

On another note, we've had quite a snowstorm yesterday. At least 12 inches of snow has covered most of the north-western part of Holland. Weather reports notify for an upcomming snowblizzard the next 2 days and maybe even the weekend. Woah, i've never seen 12 inches of snow in my life (well yeh on television off course DUH!), so that was quite cool, bit too cool if ya ask me. I hope after this blizzard the sun will come out and stick for a while, let's say 8 months?

Assault on precinct 13
Tuesday, March 01, 2005 @ 3/01/2005 11:01:00 PM

Damn this was a good flick. The movie had a awesome and a well known cast. Amongst them major players like Laurence Fishburne, Ethan Hawke, Gabriel Byrne one of my favourites John Leguizamo and off course many more whom i'm too lazy to mention. The thing is, I've never seen the 1976's version of it, so I can't tell if they changed alot of things in this movie. But the action is ace, and John Leguizamo really knows how to stir shit up again (just like in Body count) with his paranoia. The movie is set on a snowy old years eve, when a bus with big time ganglord Laurence Fishburne (Marion Bishop) and some other delinquents, decides to drop by precinct 13 to hide from the storm that night. When moments later they are being attacked and surrounded by Bishops crew to get him out. After a non guessable plottwist they find out the baddies want em all dead and decide to fight together to make it trough the night.

From sun to snow.
@ 3/01/2005 10:55:00 AM

It's amazing how the weather can change that fast. From yesterdays warm sunny day with a icy wind to a cold and stormy snow day. As for yesterday, I went shopping. Plans where to buy a new pair of shoes that just got in. And off course it figures that they didn't have the shoes I liked in my size. So instead I bought a new jacket. On the way home we decided to pick up a few vacation borchures to make up our mind where to go. We decided to pick Greece as our destination. It's funny how those magazines try to get your attention for vacation tho.
