ISP rant #2!

Don't we all hate it. You're talking to someone on msn or you're browsing the internet for your work, or you're downloading something, when suddenly your internet goes down. There are 3 steps you can do when your internet connection goes down.
1. Get off your ass, pull the plug from your modem, wait 5 secs and then plug it back in. Most of the times it's a hickup in your modem.
2. Get of your ass, grab a beer, go sit down again, enjoy your beer and wait till you can go online again. (would only recommend it if you're not a internet addict and only when plenty beer is available)
3. Call your isp helpdesk.
Yesterday at work, we had some internet problems. We lost all connections all of a sudden, so the first thing we tried was step 1. When that didn't work and we noticed we didn't have any beer, we skipped step 2 and decided to go with step 3 and call the ISP. Just one tip, if you ever call to your ISP helpdesk, make sure you ask and write down the name of the person you are talking to. Cus you end up recalling four of five times like us yesterday, and you gotta explain your problem 4 or 5 times, plus you will get the same solutions that DONT work 4 or 5 times. All because you will never ever speak to that same person again...well unless you jotted down their name off course. But even then, it can be tricky, as some of those people give up fake names. Anyways it looked like we fried the modem, so my boss ordered a new one. And off course after that the internet was fixed again. So I think we should've bought some beer instead and go for step 2.

ewww i hate it when internet is down, and i hate to call the helpdesk coz it's so complicated, i have to explain the exact problem and yes ... if i call again later it doesn't mean i will get the same person as first time and i have to re explain again :-S
Sometime the first person i've talked with was busy so i couldn't do anything else than re-explaining the problem...ufff! and it doesn't mean the problem will be fixed quickly!
At least your helpdesk speaks a language you understand!
Oh well, my fault for moving to a foreign country without being fluent.
I hope you're having a good weekend. Every time I read your blog, I find myself wondering what life in the Netherlands is like (can I call it N-town?).
When our internet goes down, the cable TV usually goes with it. Then your really screwed. It's like "What do we do now?". All the neighbors come outside and see what the outdoors is like. It's a new concept to go outdoors :-)
@ echa: exactly totally my point :)
@ cinna: Heh yeah my weekend was ok :) You will have to come over to understand really how life here is ;)
@ anony: LOL, thank god only our internet dies then, without inet and TV life is useless tbh :P
